DAY 6

A HOPE YOU CAN TRUST

Companies get rich boasting of promises they Don’t keep. Politicians stand on platforms they later ignore. Relationships start full of promise then often dissolve. Much of what we hope for ends in disappointment. But not God. He keeps his promises and the hope he gives is real.

UNCHANGING HOPE

It often seems the only thing that stays the same is change, but thankfully “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”1 The promise we have through a life of following God is a hope that won’t change, grow old, or run out. It’s the same opportunity offered to you, those you love, and everyone in the world.

HELP IN THIS WORLD

Accepting Jesus doesn’t make life’s challenges disappear, but it does put help on your side. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”2 Regardless of what you are going through, Jesus is able to sympathize with you. While on earth, Jesus faced the same trials we face – and triumphed over them all.3

HOPE BEYOND THE GRAVE

When you put on Christ in baptism and walk in His ways, you have the promise of eternal life.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”4 When you die, you will meet your Maker. If that thought doesn’t fill you with peace and hope, it’s time to act.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER:

  • What are some things that have disappointed you in your life?
  • What are some things you hope will happen in your life?
  • Do you desire a hope that will never fail?

TEST IT:

Make a list of challenges you are currently facing in life. Ask God to help you through them.
